Louisiana has a very strong shield law. La. R.S. 45:1459 contains a qualified privilege that states that no court can force you to turn over any information (as long as you are not a litigant in the case) without a showing that the information sought is highly material and relevant, critical to the party’s case and is not available from any alternative source. This is an extremely high bar.
