Like last year, all entries will be entered online through our Contest System, the labels generated online from your entries and printed out, and the actual labeled tearsheet entries mailed to the LPA office.

 

New This Year for the Editorial Competitions:

-One photo contest has been divided: “Best News/Feature Photo” are back to two separate contests, “Best News Photo” and “Best Feature Photo.”

-“Best Editorial Cartoon” has been moved to the Individual contests.

 

Reminder for the Advertising Competitions:

As long as any ad is sold by it’s local Louisiana sales representative, the ad may be designed out of state (i.e. central office) and may be entered into the advertising competitions.

 

Deadlines:

Editorial

On or before January 6, 2012-    $15 discount per newspaper

January 7- January 13, 2012         Regular Deadline

January 14- January 20, 2012 -    $25 late fee per newspaper

After January 20, 2012                   NO entries accepted

 

Advertising

On or before January 13, 2012 - $15 discount per newspaper

January 14- January 20, 2011       Regular Deadline

January 21- January 27, 2011 -    $25 late fee per newspaper

After January 27, 2011                   NO entries accepted

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Info Tab
Once you login to the system you will be presented with the competitions available. Click on the applicable competition. Click on the “Contact Contest ” tab on the top of the screen. Enter the contact information for the contest if not complete and/or review the information, make corrections if necessary. Click Save. Click Exit. Move on to Step 2.

Note: This does not have to be the same information as the logged in user.

Step 2: Adding Entries
Click the "Add Entry" button. Click “Select Category” button. Choose the contest you wish to begin entering, such as “Best News Story”. Enter description, such as “House Fire”. Enter date, such as “10/1”. Enter Writer/Artist/Cartoonist, such as “John Smith”. If more entries need to be entered, click “Save & Add”. Continue until all entries have been entered. When all the entries have been entered, click “Save Entry”.


Notes: Each competition has multiple contests available for entries and each contest has a specified limit of entries. The system will not allow the set limit to be exceeded. Limit description lines to 30 characters.


Step 3: Editing Entries
At the contest tab, all the entries entered and saved will be listed. Click on any entry that requires editing, make corrections, then click “Save Entry”. The system will return to the contest tab.


Step 4: Deleting Entries
At the contest tab, click on “delete” need to the entry that needs to be discarded.
Step 5: Reviewing Entries
At the contest tab, carefully review all the entries entered. To view each contests individually, click “All Categories” and select the contest. Click View.


Step 6: Entry Report
At the contest tab, under the “Contest Task” click “Entry Report”. The Entry Report will open in a new screen. All entries will be listed. Carefully review the report and check for any typographical errors, if any go to Step 3. If all is correct, click the “Print” button twice to print 2 copies.


Notes: LPA recommends 2 copies of the entry report be printed - one for files and one for submission.


Step 7: Print Labels
At the contest tab, under “Contest Task” click “Print Contest Labels”. Labels will open in a new screen. Click the “Print” button. Labels print on letter size paper. Cut out each label and staple in the top left-hand corner of the corresponding entry tearsheet.


Step 8: Print Invoice
At the contest tab, under “Contest Task” click “Print Invoice”. The invoice will open in a new screen. Click the “Print” button.


Step 9: Entry Submission
Review all entries, entry report, labels, and invoice. Make any corrections. At the contest tab, under “Contest Task” click “Submit Entries”. WARNING: Once entries have been submitted, only LPA can unlock them.

Step 10: Changing Competition
If entries need to be entered in another competition, such as “Best Website”, at the contest tab, click “Select contest” and go back to Step 2.


Step 11: Ship Entries
Place all the entries in chronological order, place “Entry report” and payment (if applicable) on top of all entries. Ship to: LPA, 404 Europe St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Entries must be received at LPA by deadlines set in rules.
